Free tablets and full scholarship for MBA students at Unicaf University
It was smiles all round last week at Unicaf University’s Lilongwe campus in Malawi, when 19 lucky newly-enrolled MBA students were each presented with a free Windows 10 tablet by Dr Nicos Nicolaou, Chief Executive Officer.
The tablets are being offered free to the first 100 students to enrol for the university’s highly subsidised Master of Administration degree (MBA). Each of the first 19 students presented with a free tablet also qualified for much sought-after scholarships designed to cover 60% of their tuition fees.
“My new tablet is a game changer”, said student Thom Chabwera. “I will now be able to conduct the detailed research I need to secure a degree that will open up significant new opportunities for me”.
A special presentation was also made to Langson Samala who, in the face of much hardship, secured a first class bachelor’s degree and was selected to receive an inaugural Nation-UNICAF MBA Scholarship worth USD10,000.00 for 2016. Langson – whose idol Nelson Mandela said “that attaining education is the most powerful tool for leadership” – now faces life with new optimism. “An internationally recognized MBA degree from Unicaf University will extend my opportunities throughout Malawi and beyond”, he said.
Speaking during the presentation, the Chief Executive Officer of co-sponsor Nation Publications Limited, Mbumba Banda applauded Unicaf University for the scholarship and indicated that it encapsulated the spirit of UNICAF to open doors of opportunities to African students for internationally recognised degrees at a fraction of the cost.
