Unicaf University is the Only University in Malawi with BAC Accreditation

Unicaf University is the only university in Zambia, Malawi and Uganda to be accredited by the BAC, and one of the few BAC-accredited tertiary institutions in the entirety of Africa.

The British Accreditation Council (BAC) is the oldest national independent accrediting body for independent further and Higher Education providers. In order to meet BAC accreditation, Unicaf University in Zambia, Malawi and Uganda demonstrated specific high standards that were assessed and approved by the BAC Inspectorate. The BAC mark means that Unicaf University in Zambia, Malawi and Uganda have attained a British gold standard and the assurance of delivering a high-quality educational service to its students.

BAC is a globally respected organisation, recognised by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and listed on the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). The Council is also a full member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher education (INQAAHE).

With rigorous inspections by specialised BAC inspectors, Unicaf University must meet the six standards that the BAC uses as the determining factor for eligibility for the Independent Higher Education Institution (IHEI) accreditation, which Unicaf University has gained.

The six areas that the three Unicaf University campuses get inspected for are:

1.   Governance, Strategy and Financial Management
2.   Academic Management and Administration
3.   Teaching, Learning and Assessment
4.   Student Recruitment, Support, Guidance and Progression
5.   Premises, Facilities and Learning Resources
6.   Quality Management, Assurance and Enhancement.

Achievement in all these areas is what has allowed Unicaf University to be licensed with the BAC IHEI accreditation, and the inspection process is repeated every 4 years to ensure that the high standards are being maintained.
